When dealing with toys make sure they are sturdy and will stand the test of time. This kind of business can be worked in any number of ways.
You may wish to "cut a deal" with a wholesaler and sell diapers and supplies to your customers. Even if can only save the customer a few dollars each week the customer will appreciate the savings.
You may offer delivery of supplies and goods as a convenience to the customer. Going anywhere with a baby or a small child is always difficult. If your business caters to helping the parent out then you will be a success.

Many photographers are shooting film and then sending it off through a discount store to get "proofs" to show the buyer. The supplier will usually cut you a good deal if you do a lot of business for them.
The most expensive part of this business will be the camera, film, developing and albums. You can make that back on your first wedding though. Brides and grooms are usually wanting a good quality set of pictures but they also want to save money.
Generally a photo shoot with 72 pictures, proofs and prints of 6 - 8x10's and 6 - 5x7's is a minimum of $500. A deposit is required before doing this kind of work from the person who orders the work.

Many of you have bought vans to use as transportation. Why not use that same van to start a business? You can deduct the expenses of using the van for your business on your taxes.
Here are some simple ways to make money using your van:
Plant care service. Use the van to move from business to business to serve your customer's needs. Tend the plants, deliver new ones and use the van in any number of ways.
Computer repair service. You can use your van to pick up and deliver computers that need working on. You may even work out a deal with a local company to pick up and deliver for them.
Hauling service. Just think of the numbers of things that can be hauled by van. The list is almost limitless.
Party sales. The van is the perfect tool to help you move products back and forth. Set up parties and deliver the goods.
Package delivery service. Deliver packages from one part of town to another. Better yet, tie in with other businesses and deliver products within a 20-50 mile region.

When you have a small business you usually operate on a shoestring budget. You make the most of every dollar because you have yet to make your first million.

Ask for discounts everywhere you go.
Buy at police auctions.
Purchase equipment used from dealers.
Buy at closeout.
Buy samples.
Shop ad sheets.
Buy from school supply auctions.
Buy from junk stores.
Build your own.
Buy from moving sales.
Buy from on line auctions.
There are hundreds of ways to save money on close out items, sales, and discontinued goods. Always ask for a discount or a break. It never hurts to ask for a discount.
